Switzerland: Your Perfect Yoga Retreat and Wellness Vacation
Switzerland has become one of our newest International Yoga Retreat destinations for ideal yoga retreat vacations for all-level yogis. Switzerland and its mountainous landscape have provided us with a remarkable 8-day Switzerland Yoga Retreat: Mountains Are Calling - a journey of deep immersion reconnect with the Sacred Elements
Switzerland is known for its mesmerizing Alpine scenery and scenic train rides. More than that, the yodeling tradition, Swiss fondue, Chocolate, and the Red Cross are also known as The Swiss identity.
The creation of the Yoga Retreat in Switzerland began in Bali when Reinier Voorwinde met Renata, who then became our local guide throughout the retreat. The connection instantly formed between them that a few months after that, Reinier Voorwinde found himself visiting Switzerland, ready to manifest what he had always wanted to offer.
He put his heart and mind into his visit, curating an itinerary suitable for all-level participants. From the location, the retreat venue, activities, and of course, how to deepen their yoga retreat experience by having a cultural component to it.
Here is why our Switzerland Yoga Retreat was the definition of a true wellness vacation in Europe, and what you need to know to consider signing up for the next Switzerland yoga retreat in 2024 with Drishti Journeys.
Switzerland Is One Of the Healthiest and Happiest Countries in the World!
Surrounded by The Alps, you can feel every time you breathe, the quality of the air here is fresher, lighter, and richer with healthy particles just the right nutrition for the body. The clean air provides us with a better vision and mental clarity. The Swiss adore their nature and preserve their traditions well. Hiking is in their gene. Besides mountains, they also have lakes and rivers. They love spending time out enjoying nature. Nature, tradition, and wisdom are well integrated into everyday life in Switzerland creating a healthy environment and a well-balanced combination of elements to live in, not only for humans but also for all living beings.
2. We Host Our Retreat At The Hidden Gem in Switzerland
Toggenburg Valley, located in NE Switzerland is home to several traditional villages with well-preserved traditional architecture. The highlights of Toggenburg Valley are:
The Scwendisee, where we did our cold plunge during the retreat
The Klangweg Toggenburg Trail is a 7 km walking trail that begins from Alt Sellamatt down to Schwendisee. It is a trail of sound and tone produced by 27 musical installations.
Surrounded by hiking points like Chäserugg - Rosenboden Hike and Mt Säntis
3. Our Retreat Venue is A Perfect Wellness Centre
We chose the Stump’s Alpenrose Hotel to host our yoga retreat. They got rooms overlooking the Swchendisee, a restaurant that served Swiss cuisine, conference halls, and a yoga studio.
At the end of your day before going to bed, pamper yourselves at their Wellness and Spa Centre to experience their wellness ritual. It is more than just a wellness experience that you could imagine. Once you enter the wellness center, there will be an instruction on how to properly begin and do the ritual.
They have different types of saunas, whirlpool jacuzzi, foot bathtub, an aromatherapy shower, an area to walk barefoot on, and a cold water bucket to pour onto yourselves at the end. Before you leave, have your moment in the relaxation room listening to music with a cup of herbal tea. You can use it to absorb the whole sensation of the ritual or to reflect on the day. The view that you get on your daily yoga practice is the famous Churfirsten - the 7 mountain chains.
4. Active Retreat Itinerary Suitable for Everyone.
Every day we will start with meditation and yoga practice. Then, straight up for the hike of the day! Yes, surrounded by the Alps, the Swiss are known as mountain lovers and hikers. Coming to our Switzerland Yoga Retreat requires you to be in fit condition as we will hike for hours and that's fine because the hikes are for everyone. One of the best hikes that we did was going up to Mt Säntis ( 2501m ) on a cable car ride and going all the way down the mountain on foot. Standing at the top allows us to see countries that border Switzerland: Italy, Germany, France, and Austria. We also had the chance to try the Gerstensuppe, a traditional Swiss Barley Soup with vegetables and sausages. The perfect hearty meal is commonly served at the mountain huts in Switzerland.
5. Experience Swiss Closer.
We could not thank Renata and Adelheid enough for their devotion and guidance throughout the week. They have been always present with us, making sure that all of our needs are met. They have done an excellent job by introducing us to the local community, taking us to a special place on top of the hill to have Swiss fondue accompanied by yodeling and musical performance in one evening, hiking with us, and allowing us to experience the true Swiss Culture during the retreat. Without them, our experience would have been purely just as a visitor, without any deep-level experience towards Swiss culture and way of living
